Where Learning, Play, and Caring Relationships Come Together

Choosing a preschool means choosing the people and environment that will help shape some of your child’s earliest experiences with learning. At Heritage Learning Center, McKinney families have found a nurturing place for children to build confidence, develop important skills, make friends, and discover the joy of learning.

Family-owned and operated in McKinney since 1987, Heritage Learning Center provides age-appropriate preschool programs beginning at 18 months and continuing through Pre-K. Our approach combines purposeful learning, hands-on exploration, play, social-emotional development, and caring relationships so children can build a strong foundation for kindergarten and beyond.

Families can choose from full-day preschool as well as flexible part-time options for eligible ages. Ready to see Heritage for yourself?

A McKinney Preschool Built Around How Young Children Learn

Young children learn by exploring, asking questions, moving, creating, talking, playing, and interacting with the people around them. That is why a quality preschool experience should support much more than academics alone.

At Heritage Learning Center, our teachers help children develop early literacy and math skills while also encouraging communication, independence, creativity, problem-solving, motor development, and positive social skills.

Our three-acre McKinney campus gives children room to learn both inside and outside the classroom. The campus includes turf playgrounds and dedicated sensory, phonics, and play spaces. Families also benefit from secure classroom access, video monitoring, ongoing communication through ClassDojo and newsletters, and experienced educators focused on creating a safe and positive learning environment.

The result is a preschool experience designed to help children become capable, curious, confident learners.

Full-Day and Part-Time Preschool Options in McKinney

Every family has a different schedule, and every child approaches preschool differently. Heritage Learning Center offers both full-day and part-time preschool choices to give McKinney parents greater flexibility. Current part-time options for eligible children who are two, three, or four years old by September 1 include:

  • Five mornings from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
  • Three mornings from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
  • Three full days with flexible drop-off and pickup

Part-time preschool can be particularly helpful for children who are experiencing a classroom setting for the first time, families who want to balance structured learning with more time at home, or parents whose schedules do not require five full days of care.

Full-day preschool provides additional consistency and time for children to become comfortable with classroom routines, build relationships, participate in learning activities, and develop greater independence.

Learning That Goes Beyond ABCs and 123s

Kindergarten readiness involves much more than recognizing letters and numbers. Children also need to learn how to communicate, cooperate, follow routines, manage emotions, solve problems, and become increasingly independent.

Throughout the preschool years, Heritage Learning Center helps children strengthen skills such as:

  • Early literacy, phonics, and vocabulary
  • Number recognition and early math concepts
  • Fine and gross motor development
  • Listening and following directions
  • Sharing, cooperation, and friendship skills
  • Communication and self-expression
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking
  • Independence and self-help skills
  • Creativity through art, music, movement, and play
  • Confidence in a classroom environment

Preschool and Pre-K students also receive Spanish instruction, while families can ask about additional enrichment opportunities including STEM and coding, dance, athletics, fitness activities, and piano. This combination of purposeful instruction and engaging experiences helps children understand that learning is something to enjoy.

Family-Owned Since 1987

Heritage was founded in McKinney with the belief that children should always come first. That family-owned philosophy continues to guide the center today.

Experienced Educators

Children benefit from familiar, caring adults who understand early childhood development and know how to build positive relationships with young learners. Heritage highlights its long-tenured staff as one of the qualities that sets its program apart.

A Three-Acre Campus

Children have access to spacious indoor and outdoor environments, including turf playgrounds and dedicated rooms for sensory experiences, phonics, and play.

Research-Based Learning

Heritage incorporates Frog Street Press, Circle Pre-K, phonics instruction, and other age-appropriate learning approaches throughout its early childhood programs.

Strong Family Communication

ClassDojo, newsletters, parent events, and regular communication help families stay connected to what their children are experiencing and learning.

Safety and Security

The campus includes controlled classroom access and video monitoring, while staff members undergo background checks and receive CPR and First Aid certification.

After-School Programs for McKinney Elementary Students

Children can continue their Heritage experience after entering elementary school through the Clubhouse, a separate building designed specifically for students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Because younger elementary children have different interests and developmental needs than older students, the Clubhouse separates children into age-appropriate Adventurers and Explorers groups.

Students have access to spaces for arts and crafts, games, technology, reading, science and cooking projects, homework, and recreation. Homework assistance is available during the school week, and transportation is offered to and from many McKinney ISD schools. Families should contact Heritage to confirm whether transportation is currently available for their specific school.

For working McKinney parents, the Clubhouse provides a convenient transition from the school day to an environment where children can finish homework, spend time with friends, explore their interests, and have fun.

Summer Fun at Heritage Learning Center

When the school year ends, the Clubhouse keeps school-age children active with summer programming designed to make the break memorable.

Summer experiences can include field trips throughout North Texas, swimming and water activities, skating, bowling, museums, creative projects, science activities, themed days, games, and special events.

On campus, Clubhouse students can enjoy Heritage’s spray water park, large playground, art spaces, computer labs, arcade rooms, and group activities.

The goal is simple: give children an engaging summer filled with opportunities to explore, create, move, make friends, and enjoy being a kid.
