Heritage Learning Center is family owned and operated, and has been preparing children for success since 1987. Heritage was founded by Phoebe and Kim Adams in McKinney, TX.

Prior to founding Heritage, Phoebe worked in child care facilities for almost 20 years and taught every age group from infants through kindergarten. She and her daughter, Kim, had enough experience with child care centers to know exactly what they wanted in a center and exactly what they did not want. Heritage was created with their goals of providing the best possible environment for children and with their belief that the children should always come first. Heritage is still operated under the same philosophy today.

Heritage opened its doors for business in a rented building on Virginia Parkway in May 1987 with six children enrolled and four teachers. Enrollment grew slowly at first until word began spreading in McKinney that Heritage Learning Center really was a better kind of child care center and that Ms. Phoebe was a different kind of Director. By 1990, enrollment at Heritage was at the maximum of 148 children with a long waiting list.

In 1993, our present three acre site was purchased and the front building was opened in August 1994 at full capacity of 246 children. Three years later, the Clubhouse was completed, providing our school age children a unique building all their own.

Ms. Phoebe has now retired from her long days of caring for all the children; although, she still is a strong force in the background ensuring that her center is maintaining her same high standards. Ms. Kim is still at the center daily and ensures that Ms. Phoebe’s standards and practices are fulfilled.

The history of HLC is really the history of a dream…a dream to create the best possible learning environment for all of Ms. Phoebe’s and Ms. Kim’s children. From our loving staff and engaging curriculum to our beautiful facility, HLC has and will continue to serve children well.
