A McKinney Preschool Built Around How Young Children Learn
Young children learn by exploring, asking questions, moving, creating, talking, playing, and interacting with the people around them. That is why a quality preschool experience should support much more than academics alone.
At Heritage Learning Center, our teachers help children develop early literacy and math skills while also encouraging communication, independence, creativity, problem-solving, motor development, and positive social skills.
Our three-acre McKinney campus gives children room to learn both inside and outside the classroom. The campus includes turf playgrounds and dedicated sensory, phonics, and play spaces. Families also benefit from secure classroom access, video monitoring, ongoing communication through ClassDojo and newsletters, and experienced educators focused on creating a safe and positive learning environment.
The result is a preschool experience designed to help children become capable, curious, confident learners.
Preschool Programs from 18 Months Through Pre-K
Heritage Learning Center offers different classrooms and learning experiences based on each stage of early childhood development.

Little Primers
(Beginning at 18 Months )
For many children, Little Primers is their first experience spending regular time in a classroom environment away from home. Teachers focus on helping young toddlers feel secure while developing listening skills, vocabulary, social interaction, and the ability to follow simple directions and classroom routines. Stories, songs, play, repetition, and hands-on activities give children opportunities to explore while building the early skills they will use throughout preschool.

Early Preschool
(Age 2)
Two-year-olds are busy discovering how the world works. Heritage channels that natural curiosity into developmentally appropriate learning experiences involving language, early math and science concepts, movement, creativity, and play. Social-emotional growth is also a major part of the Early Preschool experience. Children practice sharing, taking turns, communicating feelings, following routines, and interacting positively with other children.

Preschool
(Age 3)
As children become more independent, the preschool classroom introduces increasingly structured learning while maintaining plenty of opportunities for exploration and play. Children strengthen fine motor skills, develop early writing abilities, work with letters and numbers, expand their vocabulary, and build early literacy skills through the Frog Street Curriculum. Preschool students also begin attending a separate daily Spanish class, giving them early exposure to another language while their communication abilities are rapidly developing.

Pre-Kindergarten
(Age 4)
As children become more independent, the preschool classroom introduces increasingly structured learning while maintaining plenty of opportunities for exploration and play. Children strengthen fine motor skills, develop early writing abilities, work with letters and numbers, expand their vocabulary, and build early literacy skills through the Frog Street Curriculum. Preschool students also begin attending a separate daily Spanish class, giving them early exposure to another language while their communication abilities are rapidly developing.
Full-Day and Part-Time Preschool Options in McKinney
Every family has a different schedule, and every child approaches preschool differently. Heritage Learning Center offers both full-day and part-time preschool choices to give McKinney parents greater flexibility. Current part-time options for eligible children who are two, three, or four years old by September 1 include:
Part-time preschool can be particularly helpful for children who are experiencing a classroom setting for the first time, families who want to balance structured learning with more time at home, or parents whose schedules do not require five full days of care.
Full-day preschool provides additional consistency and time for children to become comfortable with classroom routines, build relationships, participate in learning activities, and develop greater independence.

Learning That Goes Beyond ABCs and 123s
Kindergarten readiness involves much more than recognizing letters and numbers. Children also need to learn how to communicate, cooperate, follow routines, manage emotions, solve problems, and become increasingly independent.
Throughout the preschool years, Heritage Learning Center helps children strengthen skills such as:
Preschool and Pre-K students also receive Spanish instruction, while families can ask about additional enrichment opportunities including STEM and coding, dance, athletics, fitness activities, and piano. This combination of purposeful instruction and engaging experiences helps children understand that learning is something to enjoy.

Why McKinney Families Choose Heritage Learning Center
Heritage Learning Center has been part of the McKinney community for decades. That experience has helped shape an environment designed around what young children and their families need most.
After-School Programs for McKinney Elementary Students
Children can continue their Heritage experience after entering elementary school through the Clubhouse, a separate building designed specifically for students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Because younger elementary children have different interests and developmental needs than older students, the Clubhouse separates children into age-appropriate Adventurers and Explorers groups.
Students have access to spaces for arts and crafts, games, technology, reading, science and cooking projects, homework, and recreation. Homework assistance is available during the school week, and transportation is offered to and from many McKinney ISD schools. Families should contact Heritage to confirm whether transportation is currently available for their specific school.
For working McKinney parents, the Clubhouse provides a convenient transition from the school day to an environment where children can finish homework, spend time with friends, explore their interests, and have fun.

Summer Fun at Heritage Learning Center
When the school year ends, the Clubhouse keeps school-age children active with summer programming designed to make the break memorable.
Summer experiences can include field trips throughout North Texas, swimming and water activities, skating, bowling, museums, creative projects, science activities, themed days, games, and special events.
On campus, Clubhouse students can enjoy Heritage’s spray water park, large playground, art spaces, computer labs, arcade rooms, and group activities.
The goal is simple: give children an engaging summer filled with opportunities to explore, create, move, make friends, and enjoy being a kid.
