With schools across the country closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, children are doing all of their work from home, giving the burden to parents to make sure their children are learning in this crazy time. Many parents who have no experience teaching, are struggling to learn how to keep their children focused on their school work so that they do not fall behind.
While we are unable to help your kids at school or make sure they have a safe place to learn while you’re at work, we would like to give you a few tips on how to make sure they learn as much as they can from home!
Routine
Even though they are at home, it is important that you make sure kids are in a similar routine to their school one day as possible. If you keep them focused on schoolwork during the times that they are usually at school, this will help keep them motivated.
Use Online Resources
Teachers across the country are doing their best to make sure that your children have activities, assignments, and resources to continue learning while they are out of school. However, many teachers also recommend that parents seek out other online resources to help them continue learning when their school work is finished.
Learning Space
Finding a spot around the house that is free mostly free of distractions will help your child focus and feel like they are in a classroom setting. Set clear break times, and maks sure that this area is separate from “play areas” that way children will associate this area with learning.
Make sure they are completing their assigned work
Your child’s teachers are working hard to make sure your child has enough instruction to make sure they are prepared for school whenever it comes back. Make sure your children complete their work. This will be the best way for them to be prepared.
Enjoy the Time with your children
As difficult and chaotic as this time is, make sure you enjoy the time you get to spend with your family.
